trains from stratford after frankfurt
my son's train home to norwich from stratford would be 11.30. will that be a problem with queues after the game? i know it's taken me nearly half that to get as far as the cow after a game. although he's 20 he's travelling alone and not very streetwise, i'd be horrified of him missing that train and being locked out in stratford overnight.

Re: trains from stratford after frankfurt
As others have said, he'll have plenty of time. If the game finishes at 10 with injury time etc he'll be on the platform easily within 25-30 minutes and that's if he's at the back of the queue. Plenty of time to even drop back to Liverpool Street, grab food and then make the train there before it heads back through Stratford.

Having done that journey id be more worried about being stuck in Norwich with our six figured friends.

If he follows the crowd he'll be absolutely fine and will make the train.

He'd have to have done something to miss the 11.30. I go back to Colchester and even after the extra time games I've caught that one.

Tell him to sneak over to block 138 with ten to go ,straight out from there.

Claret,
That time kick off he would even get back to Stratford for the 10:30 train, easy for the 11:30. Even have time to get a train from Stratford back into Liverpool Street and then have the pick of seats of the train back to Norwich from there. Can even go for a drink at Liverpool Street

If he is far side of the ground then may be worth walking to hackney wick. One stop right into the heart of Stratford station and no queues.

I have done it and works a treat…but last European game the closed hackney wick due to staff shortages and it was a fucking nightmare as I then had to walk back to Stratford!

Re: trains from stratford after frankfurt
Even with the crowds at its peak the walk to the platform at Stratford can be no more than 30 mins max. Loads of time.
Otherwise he could leave 5 mins early

I've been letting my kids go to and from the match on their own since they were mid teens. Have I been doing parenting wrong all this time?

Cutting the apron strings might help him get there.

Re: trains from stratford after frankfurt
He'll have no problem at all catching that train. I dawdled after the Seville game and still caught a 23.12 - and that was after 30 mins extra time and mucho celebrating

Re: trains from stratford after frankfurt
Unless he stays in the ground for 15 mins after the final whistle so is one of the last to leave, there is no way he will miss and 11:30pm train from Stratford...and even if he did stay for 15 mins after the final whistle he would probably still make it in time.

The queues are a pain in the arse but they are not that bad that it would take someone over an hour and a half to get from their seat to the platform.

Re: trains from stratford after frankfurt
he's been to quite a few games alone but has previously used stratford international which has less queues. returning to uni in norwich this time is the first time he's used the busier station.

If he’s not very streetwise, I’d be more worried about him being knocked senseless by some kraut thug.
